Hi there, i just found this site, it’s quite interesting how i got here. i saw a video on youtube
saying sthg about podcasts and here I’m. I got to say i enjoy your conversations with your kid. It reminds me how I first started to teach my lil’ nephew how to talk.
Bottom line, I hope you keep doing this great job. It’s going to be very useful to me since i just started to learn japanese by my own. bye

You could. There’s more than one way to say it. Just like in English, it depends on who you’re taking to and your own individual way of saying it.

今日、僕はお昼ご飯にネズミをたべました。
今日、お昼ご飯にネズミを食べました。
お昼ご飯にネズミ一匹食べた。
僕はお昼ご飯にネズミをくいました。
お昼ごはんにネズミをくった。

I ate a rat for lunch today.
Today, I ate a rat for lunch.
I had a rat for lunch today.
I chowed down on a rat for lunch today.
For lunch today, I had a rat.
For lunch today, I ate a rat.

Since the English says today, wouldn’t you include きょう？
